Harold H. Angle, 99, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 27, 1923 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late VT and Rhoda (Heintzelman) Angle.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1941 and a graduate of Peirce Business School in Philadelphia. Harold served with the United States Army during World War II. He was a decorated veteran earning a Bronze Star and the French Legion of Honor. He was a proud member of The Greatest Generations Foundation traveling with the organization to parts of Europe three different times. Harold was set to be the Grand Marshal of the upcoming Veteran’s Day Parade this year.
Harold started as a business partner with his father and brothers in the poultry and egg retail/wholesale business. Together, he owned and operated VT Angle Sons Lincoln-Mercury automobile dealership with his brothers Glenn and Richard from 1948 to 1950. Then a Chrysler-Plymouth franchise from 1950 to 1955 and a Pontiac-Cadillac dealership from 1955 to 1977, adding Buick from 1959 to 1977.
Harold was a life member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg where he served in many different roles including Sunday School Superintendent for nearly sixty years. He and his brother were vital in bringing the YMCA to Chambersburg and serving as board members. He was a long time member and served as president of the Kiwanians. Harold was a lifelong saxophone player and truly loved playing in the CVSM New Horizons Band. He enjoyed watching golf, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Angle Miller (Mark) of Salem, VA and Sharon Angle Metzler of York, PA; two granddaughters, Kirsten Anzaldua (Justin) and Casey Grey Applegate (Mike); three great-grandchildren (who called him “Greatpa”): Linley Anzaldua, Mikey and Maisie Applegate; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Duke Angle who passed away February 12, 2004, and three siblings, Helen M. Horn, Glenn W. Angle, and Richard C. Angle.
Services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, November 6, 2022 in first United Methodist Church, 225 S. 2nd Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Rev. Steven Livermore and Rev. Dianne Salter officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the church Sunday afternoon.
