Harold Gabler

September 13, 1935 — March 4, 2018

Harold C. Gabler, Jr., age 82, of Chambersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2018, while surrounded by his family. Born on September 13, 1935 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Harold C. Gabler Sr. and Eleanor Schaff Gabler. After 53 years of marriage, Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Finniff Gabler, on September 14, 2009.

He was a 1953 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, and a 1957 graduate of Penn State. As the CEO of his family’s business, H.C. Gabler Inc. of Chambersburg, he also served his community in many other capacities. Over the years he had served on the boards of the Chambersburg Hospital, Quincy United Methodist Home, the former Valley Bank & Trust Company, and St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he was also a lifelong member. Some of his interests included gardening, model railroading, and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Vita Nicoletti Gabler, whom he married on January 17, 2015; four children, Harold C. “Chip” Gabler (wife, Pamela) of Chambersburg, Sharon Morrill of Rock Hill, SC, Tara Caldwell, and Chuck Gabler (wife, Leslie), all of Chambersburg; sister Patsy Saber and brother, P. Thomas Gabler (wife, Bunny), all of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, in St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Avenue Chambersburg, with Pastor John Kratz and Pastor Rick Noll officiating. A private family interment will precede the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, March 9, in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg. The family will also receive friends directly following the service in the church on Saturday.
