Harold L. Mickey, age 86, of Fayetteville, PA; passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital Emergency Room. Born January 16, 1925 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late William G. and Bessie Stoner Mickey.
A US Army veteran during WWII, Harold served honorably in the battles of Normady, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He went on to work at the Chambersburg Engineering Company for 10 years and then as a Tube Mill Operator at the Frick Company in Waynesboro for 30 years, until his retirement in 1987. Harold was a member of the Coldsprings Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, Betty Jane Mickey, whom he married on April 10, 1943; his son Gregory Lloyd Mickey and wife Karen of Shippensburg, PA; two grandchildren, Kristin Harwood of Shippensburg and Keith Mickey and wife Amanda of Shippensburg; two great grandsons, Dylan and Ryan Mickey both of Shippensburg; and one sibling, Audrey Bolan of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Jack and Edward Mickey, Mildred Smith, Blanche Gabler, Kathleen Peters, and Diane Henderson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Donald L. Bender will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens; where members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will provide Military Honors.
