Harold A. Taylor, Jr., 98, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Chambers Pointe. Born January 12, 1924 in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Harold A. Taylor, Sr. and Clara W. Kaltenbach Taylor.
A US Navy veteran, Harold served honorably as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class during World War II. He was employed as an Assistant Licensing Manager for Selected Risks Insurance Company until his retirement. Harold was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring in Chambersburg. A 32nd degree mason, He was a member of the Valley of Altoona Scottish Rite, and the Shriners International. He was also a member of VFW Post 1599 and American Legion Post 46, both in Chambersburg. In his younger years, Harold enjoyed sports car racing served in the pit crew of a local race team near Somerset, PA. He also enjoyed RV Camping with his wife and visited every state except HI doing so.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth R. Snook Taylor; two children, Keith A. Taylor of Hanover, PA, and Joy A. Bruening (husband Wayne) of Stoystown, PA; five grandchildren, Jeremy Bruening (wife Sheila), Stacey Coughenour (husband Joshua), Mandy Bower (husband Joshua), Holly Taylor, and Julie Holsopple (husband Seth); and four great grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Kainan, and Tara. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Taylor; and daughter-in-law, Elaine Taylor.
A memorial service to honor Harold’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at The Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, 221 N. Main St. Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Dr. Andy Hart will officiate. Visitation with the family will be at the church from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring at the above address.
