Harriet Argentiere

Harriet Bassler Argentiere, 67, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Annapolis, MD, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born May 7, 1949 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Alma Harris Bassler and the late Harry G. Bassler.

Harriet was a 1967 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and later earned her B.A. degree in Fine Arts from Wilson College in 1971. She was originally employed by Government Services Savings and Loan in Bethesda, MD, then at Bank of Annapolis as vice president of operations and finally at NASA Federal Credit Union as director of business development. Harriet was an avid animal rights activist. She loved her dogs: Peanut, Bambi, Whiskers, Jagger and Joplin. She served on the board of directors of the SPCA of Anne Arundel County for 17 years. She loved attending Rolling Stones concerts and was a very active member of the Rolling Stones Fan Club “Shidoobee” for Rolling Stones fanatics.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 41 years, Patrick F. Argentiere, whom she married on April 5, 1975; her son, Anthony C. Argentiere of Annapolis, MD; her sister, Sherry Campbell and husband Richard of Chambersburg, PA; her sister-in-law Sherry Howard and husband Allen of Gaithersburg, MD; and special friends, Joan Chambers of Ellicott City, MD; David and Laura Peiffer of Chambersburg, PA, and Lanny and Lisa Foreman of Chambersburg, PA.

A funeral service to honor Harriet’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 20, 2016 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 PM on Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
