Harry C. Bowser, 81 of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012 in his home, while surrounded by his family. Born on November 3, 1930 in Cairnbrooke, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph W. Bowser Sr. and Ida Manges Bowser.
A US Army veteran, Harry honorably served his country through the Korean Conflict. He retired as a supervisor at Letterkenny Army Depot in August of 1990. He was a life member and past commander of the Detrich-Brechbill American Legion Post 612, St. Thomas and their 40 et 8 club; member of the Mercersburg VFW and the Marine Corps League in Chambersburg. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, woodcrafts and trap shooting.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of more than 58 years, Lucretia Bowser, whom he married on January 29, 1954; three children, Randy L. Bowser (wife, Jackie) of Carlisle, Michael S. Bowser (wife, Kathleen) of Marysville, PA, and Kimberly S. Ott (companion, Danny) of Shippensburg; step-brother, Melvin Clites (wife, Mary) of St. Thomas; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and William, and his sister, Dorothy Twilly.
Funeral services will be held at 7 PM on Monday, November 5, in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd. Chambersburg, with Chaplain John Winckler officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
