Harry D. “Dash” Leedy, age 85, of Chambersburg, PA entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 30, 1930, in Freestone, PA (Horsevalley), he was the son of the late Harvey C. and Verna R. Rosenberry Forrester Leedy.
Mr. Leedy attended Shippensburg Area Schools. He married his wife of 65 years, Edith “Eloise” Whorley on June 12, 1948. He was self-employed at Leedy’s Lumber Company from 1948 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he had been a member since 1958. He was a life-member and past vice president of the Franklin Fire Company, where he served on numerous committees, a life-member of the Elks B.P.O.E 600, American Legion Post #46, a chartered member of the Mall Walkers Club and the A.A.R. P. all of Chambersburg. He loved the outdoors and spending time at his cabin in Horsevalley. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also loved traveling and spending time with his family.
Surviving are four children, Alan G. Leedy (wife Pam) of Chambersburg, PA, Kelly F. Izer (husband David) of Chambersburg, PA, Kim Yvonne Hissong (husband Gregory) of St. Thomas, PA, and Harry Donald Leedy, Jr. (wife Judy) of Upper Strasburg, PA; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great – great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Stoey David Leedy, siblings, Ross Leedy, Polly Hammond, Mable Hammond, Albert Forrester, Jessie Forrester, Ray Forrester, and Stoey Forrester.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Scott Bowerman will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the service at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
