Harry Edward Funk, Jr., 71, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 12, 1951 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Harry E. Funk, Sr. and Ida May Miley Funk.
Harry was a 1969 graduate of CASHS. He was employed as a Machine Shop Office Clerk and Time Study Specialist at T.B. Woods until his retirement in 2016 after 36 years of service. He was a member of Grace Bible Church in Greencastle where he served as a preschool helper and Vacation Bible School helper for many years and was affectionately known as “Mr. Harry” to all the children he loved and adored. Harry enjoyed doing yardwork, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Christmas was his favorite holiday and over-the-top decorating was his specialty. His family called him “Clark Griswold”. He was always on the move, organized, kept the family on task, and precise on time. Harry was the ultimate family man. His family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Myrna Lea Cline Funk, the love of his life next to Jesus, whom he married on December 14, 1984; two sons, Harry E. “Trey” Funk III and wife Morgan of Chambersburg, and Benjamin J. Funk and wife Madison of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Jacklyn, Ember, Bennett, Lynnlea and Hudson; two sisters, Doreen Horn and husband Ken, and Lynann Funk, both of Chambersburg; one nephew, Zach Horn and his family; and his mother-in-law, Thelma Cline of Waynesboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Nathan Hykes will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Rd, Greencastle, PA 17225.
