Harry Kipe

Harry L. Kipe, 90, of Mechanicsburg, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, PA passed away the morning of Saturday, May 28, 2022 in Messiah Lifeways Assisted Living, Mechanicsburg. Born January 29, 1932 in Libertytown, MD he was the son of the late Earl W. and Daisy Bell (Sprenkle) Kipe.

He attended St. Thomas Area Schools. Harry was employed by the Butcher Shoppe, Chambersburg helping in the produce and meat departments. He retired from the Butcher Shoppe after 52 years. Harry was an active member of the West Side Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg. He loved gardening, bird watching and singing. In his younger years he sang alongside his friends in the Harmony Boys.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathleen (Thuma) Kipe whom he married April 14, 1979; two children, David H. Kipe and wife Marian of Winston Salem, NC and Gloria J. Heisey and husband Jim of Manheim, PA; four grandchildren Nathan, Mathew, Vanessa and Valerie; five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Benjamin Kipe of Chambersburg, Elmer Kipe of Shippensburg, PA, Vaughn Kipe and Daniel Kipe both of Chambersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Verda R. (Zook) Kipe who passed away February 16, 1978; a granddaughter, Victoria Heisey and siblings, Nona, Samuel, Anna Mae, Richard, Daisy, Pearl, Charles and Janet.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 3, 2022 in West Side Brethren In Christ Church, 2665 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor David Kent officiating. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, June 3, 2022 Air Hill Cemetery, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday evening in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 as well as one hour prior to the service Friday morning in the church.
