Harry G. Knepper, age 63, of Chambersburg, PA; passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital Emergency Room on Monday, January 16, 2012. Born September 2, 1948 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Mildred Eberly Knepper.
A 1966 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Harry went on working in the auto parts business and at Grove Worldwide for 21 years until his retirement in 2000. His passion for helping people fix their cars led him to work at Hicks Chevrolet and kept him working part time at Fisher Auto Parts after retirement. Upon his retirement he went on to graduate from Thompson Institute in 2001 as a Medical Technician, and going on to work in the medical field. He enjoyed hunting, camping, watching the Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State, and NASCAR.
Surviving are his wife, Victoria Martin Knepper, whom he married on June 16, 2007; his children, Thomas L. Knepper (Stacey) of Chambersburg, PA and Harry J. Knepper (Mary Beth) of Shippensburg, PA; three step-sons, Allen Martin (Tammy) of Boonsboro, MD, Christopher Martin (Pam) of Sharpsburg, MD, and Kevin Martin (Bobbi) of Gettysburg, PA; eight grandchildren, Maggie Lawler of Harrisburg, PA, Ezekiel and Parker Knepper of Chambersburg, PA, Wyatt Knepper of Shippensburg, PA, and Miranda, Courtney, Colby, and Seth Martin; a great-granddaughter, Zoey; and two siblings, Arthur “Sonny” Knepper and Trudy Sites, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny J. Knepper and a sister, Evelyn Gossert.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; with Rev. Paul B. Baker officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19 from 6-8 PM and on Friday one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery.
