Harvey King

Harvey R. King, Sr., 84 of St. Thomas, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 in his home. Born July 5, 1938 in Three Springs, PA, he was a son of the late Fora B. King, Sr. and Estella Landers.

A 1956 graduate of Hustontown High School, Harvey honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1960 where he was stationed in France and Germany. Following his service, he went on to be employed for 28 years at T.B. Woods in Chambersburg as a machine operator, and then at Corning Glass in Greencastle for 9 years, retiring in 2001. His first priority in life was always his family, who he loved spending time with. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and reading.

Harvey is survived by his sons, Harvey King, Jr. and Gary King; and four grandsons, Justin Richard, Erik Robert, Brandon Dakota and Shawn Dillon. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa K. “Missy” King; grandson Nic King; three brothers, John, Daniel, and Charles “Matt” King, and one sister, Alice King.

Funeral services for Harvey will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, where Rev. Murray B. Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, where Military Honors will be conducted by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 3001 Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
