Hattie Shadle

July 30, 1919 — April 17, 2012

Hattie Ruth Strock Shadle, 92, passed away Tuesday night April 17, 2012 at Menno Haven Nursing Center, where she had been residing for the past 2 months. Hattie was born on July 30, 1919 in St. Thomas, PA to Elmer Gushert and Ruth Gayle Haulman Strock. Hattie married Kenneth Leroy Shadle on August 27, 1936.

Hattie was a great wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to spend time with all her family whom she loved with all her heart. Hattie lit up a room with her smile and laughter. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and spent time with her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ruth Strock; her husband, Kenneth Leroy Shadle; three brothers, Charles, Raymond, and Franklin "Punk" Strock; two sisters, Susie Robison and Hilda Ott Orr; and a step great grandson, Johnny Daneker. Hattie is survived by one sister, Lou Brady.

Hattie's daughter is Patsy (husband, Glenn) Wildeson; her five grandchildren are Denny (wife, Karrie) Wildeson, Kimberly (husband, Gregory) Steinour, Jody (husband, Ronald) Swartz, Zoe (husband, Douglas) Mummert, and Douglas (wife, Stacy) Wildeson; her seven great-grandchildren are Brandon (wife, Erin) Mummert, Jared Mummert, Hayley Wildeson, Tucker Wildeson, Chelsea Steinour, Kali Steinour, and Tori Swartz; and her one step great granddaughter is Nichole Daneker (sons, Angel and Benny).

Hattie worked as a seamstress at a shirt factory in Shippensburg, PA for many years. Hattie was co-founder of Ken Shadle Aluminum Products Inc. where she worked side by side with her husband from 1958 through 1986. Hattie and Ken enjoyed retirement by fishing, boating and golfing at their home in Cape Coral, Florida.

Hattie was active in community service. She was a Girl Scout leader. She was also a member of both the Eastern Star and the White Shrine. Hattie and Ken traveled to many countries with the Zembo Shrine of Harrisburg. Her hobbies included crocheting and needlepoint. Hattie enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hattie attended the Cape Coral Community Church, FL.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202; where Rev. Robert Keener will officiate. Friends will be received on Sunday, April 22 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM, where an Easter Star service will be conducted at 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will follow the service on Monday in Salem Cemetery, Greene Township. In addition Ken Shadle Aluminum Products, Inc. will be closed all day on Monday, April 23. Hattie supported many local charities. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hattie's name to your favorite charity.
