Hazel E. (Yeatter) Guyer, 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday evening, August 18, 2018 at her home. Born January 4, 1928 in Doylesburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Herman H. and Celestia F. Harris Yeatter. She had worked alongside her husband dairy farming and had been employed at the former Shirt Craft Company in Shippensburg and J. Schoeneman Company in Chambersburg, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of New Guilford Brethren In Christ Church where she was active with the sewing circle. Mrs. Guyer enjoyed quilting and she and her husband made over 200 quilts for the Mennonite Central Committee. She enjoyed attending her grandchildrens’ sporting events and volunteered for many years with Guilford Little League. Her husband, Norman B. Guyer, whom she married March 26, 1946, preceded her in death on June 26, 1998.
She is survived by three children, Arthur Guyer (Debra) of Chambersburg, Vonnie Foltz of Chambersburg, and Bruce Guyer of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, April Guyer Ramirez, Norman, Andy, Alan, Amie, Elizabeth, and Tiffany Guyer; seven great-grandchildren, Ava, Levi, Lila, Lilli, and Kyrie Guyer, Jocelyn and Joél Ramirez; and her sister, Lewese Peck and husband Robert of Shippensburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Rowland Guyer; her grandson Michael Guyer; two brothers, Harvey and Kenneth, and a sister, Nancy Ryder.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Lawton Jacobs will officiate. Interment will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Spring Run, PA. The family will receive friends from Noon-1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
