Hazel B. “Sis” Diffenderfer Hile, 83, of Chambersburg, died on Friday, August 30, 2013 in Manor Care Health Services, Chambersburg. Born July 16, 1930 in Hamilton Township, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Helen Upperman Diffenderfer. She had been employed as a seamstress at the former J. Schoeneman Company in Chambersburg for fifty years. Mrs. Hile was a long-time member of Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed ceramics and her dog, Jazzy. Her husband, Harold E. Hile, whom she married July 3, 1949, preceded her in death on December 31, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin L. Hill and husband Daniel of Chambersburg; two grandchildren whom she loved very much, Jennifer S. Hull-Guerrier and husband Jean of Chambersburg and James L. Hull and wife Carolyn of Norfolk, VA; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mildred Sellers and husband Richard and Mary Engle, all of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Ray Diffenderfer; and a sister, Hulda Compher.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Marc Stephenson officiating. Entombment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
