Hazel Erma Hobble, 91, of Chambersburg, PA, died Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2014 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born May 28, 1923 in Doylesburg, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Vada Fertney Hockenberry. A homemaker most of her life, she had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot during WWII. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking cookies, word searches, and traditional county music. Her husband, John Richard Hobble, whom she married June 13, 1946, preceded her in death on March 1, 1992.
She is survived by three children, Maxine Beatty of Chambersburg, Lois Shearer (Carey) of Fayetteville, and Bradley Hobble (Bonnie) of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Parks and Helen Eaton, both of Doylesburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lavonda Gerner on March 10, 2012, and an infant brother and sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA with Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil officiating. Interment will follow at Doylesburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
