Helen H. Barr, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday morning, July 4, 2022 at her home. Born October 20, 1940 in Warfordsburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Ethel Crawford Divelbliss. Early in her life she had been employed at Connie’s Sportswear in Waynesboro and Wayne’s Family Restaurant in Greencastle. She then went to work as a waitress at the Sunnyway Diner in Greencastle, retiring after 35 years. She was a member of VFW Post 1599, American Legion Post 46, and AMVETS Post 224, all in Chambersburg, as well as Moose Lodge # 1191 in Waynesboro. Helen enjoyed traveling, coin collecting, line dancing, bingo, and casinos. Her husband, Raymond H. Barr, whom she married June 15, 1974, preceded her in death on December 4, 2013.
She is survived by four children, Gloria Null of Winchester, VA, DuWayne Fox and wife Mary of Waynesboro, Jody Bonner and husband Steven of Fayetteville, and Cathy Martin and husband Michael of Nevada; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Black and husband Jim of Ft. Littleton and Mildred Luber of New York. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Herbert, Lloyd, Carl, and Ralph Divelbliss; three sisters, Verda Hewett, Irene Booth, and Betty Clark; and a grandson, Thomas Iden, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday and from 9:00-10:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
