Helen J. Berry, 87, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Born March 26, 1933 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Curtis R. and Marion Lovett Purvis. Her beloved husband James R. Berry, preceded her in death in 2009.
Helen was a 1953 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was employed as an LPN for 38 years at the Chambersburg Hospital until her retirement and later as an LPN at Menno Haven. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and enjoyed her fellowship with her church family. Helen also enjoyed collecting dolls, teapots, baskets, and decorating her home.
She is survived by five children, Deborah Caution of FL, Dawna Campbell of Chambersburg, Dr. Curtis Berry and wife Linda of Chambersburg, Russell Berry of Chambersburg, and Dodie Ruiz of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Boyd Campbell III, Christopher Berry and wife Megan Grove, Alicia Shelly and husband John, Joshua Berry, Benjamin Berry and wife Cijianna and Zane Ruiz; two great grandchildren, Camden and Aliyah Shelly; and one sister, Virginia Purvis of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald, Ralph, Eugene and Curtis Purvis, Jr.; and one sister, Alice Quivers.
Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
