Helen R. Foor, 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Friday morning, September 17, 2021 at Restore Health of Shippensburg. Born May 28, 1929 in Jones Mills, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Goldie Boyer Harkcom. A 1947 graduate of Shade High School in Cairnbrook, she had worked for many years as the bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Foor’s Plumbing and Heating. She had also been employed as a secretary at The Salvation Army and had managed the cafeteria at K-mart in Chambersburg and worked at the cafeteria at T.B. Woods Sons, Inc. She also was a representative for Home Interiors. Mrs. Foor was a member of the Abundant Life Chapel where she had served on the Board and worked with the church finances. She also taught Sunday school and was active with youth programs. She enjoyed crafting and taking walks, especially with her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Judith L. Nozzi of North Carolina, Donald R. Foor, Barry A. Foor, and Jeffrey E. Foor and wife Tanya, all of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Zubek; and her brother, James Harkcom, both of Central City, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Atherton; three grandsons, Ryan, Matthew, and Jamie; and several siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from Noon-1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
