Helen Forrester

January 5, 1931 — February 6, 2013

Helen B. Forrester, age 82, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in the Harrisburg Hospital. Born on January 5, 1931 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert R. Besore and Mabel E. Burke Besore.

A 1949 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, she married her husband, Harold S. Forrester, on October 19, 1949. Helen raised and cared for her family while working alongside Harold as the secretary and treasurer of Forrester Farms LTD in Chambersburg for 60 years. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chambersburg and its W.E.L.C.A. women’s’ group, the Pa. Farm Bureau Association, and a former member of the Pa. Society of Farm Women. She and Harold were also active members of numerous local antique tractor groups. Among her interests of travelling and antiquing, her most enjoyable times were those spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Harold S. Forrester; three daughters, Bonnie McKenrick (husband Rodney) of Chambersburg, Donna Forrester of Tuscon, AZ, and Carol Jean McCoy (husband William) of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Brian J. McKenrick, Crystal L. McKenrick, Michael D. McCoy (wife Amber), and Matthew R. McCoy (wife Krystle); and four great grandchildren, Addisyn, Dawson, Masen, and Sutton. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Ott.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 11, 2013 in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chambersburg, 43 W. Washington St. Chambersburg, with Rev. Steven D. Dorsett officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends from 5-7 PM on Sunday, February 10, in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at the above address (zip code 17201), or to Better Days Animal League, 2115 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
