Helen Margaret Heidelbach (nee McDonald) passed from this life May 27, 2024. For the past six years, she and husband Walt had been residents of Menno Haven. Then, in July of 2023, ill health required that she move to the Village Square Personal Care Unit where she was provided loving and compassionate care for the remainder of her life. She was born November 26, 1932, in Claysburg, Blair Co. PA the seventh of nine children born to the late Harry Edwin and Edna (nee Wagner) McDonald.
During her childhood, the family lived in Sproul, PA. Helen graduated from Claysburg High School with the the class of 1950. She moved to Baltimore soon thereafter and worked at Sun Life Insurance Co. for the next eighteen years
She was married to Walter R. Heidelbach in March of 1965 and except for the 5 years while Walt was assigned to AT&T in New York, they lived in Cockeysville, MD until retiring and moving to Penn National in Fayetteville, PA in 1995. Here their life evolved around golf, their family, golf, their many friends and golf.
Helen is survived by Walt, her husband of 59 years, their son Brian, daughter in law Kimberly, two grandsons, Ian and Evan of Timonium, MD, her sister Kay Schon, currently residing in Duncansville, PA, and a host of nieces and nephews. Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
