Helen M. Isenberger, age 97, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center. Born June 2, 1917, in Shippensburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Emma C. Clough Martin.
A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Isenberger enjoyed cooking, baking, chatting, and having an occasional snack. She was a long time member of King Street Church and AARP. She was one of the last surviving members of her high school graduating class of 1935 from the former Shippensburg Senior High School.
Surviving are six children, Carol A. Householder of Shippensburg, Darlene K. Horn (Brian) of Chambersburg, Judith L. Hess (Richard) of Waynesboro, Sharon M. Sword of Chambersburg, John R. (Debra) Isenberger II of Waynesboro, and Brenda L. Long (Paul) of Chambersburg; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Isenberger in 2001.
Funeral services will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to King Street Church, 162 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
