Helen Martin

Helen E. Martin age 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Born in Shippensburg PA, on November 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Ellen Witter Reath.
Mrs. Martin worked at the Shippensburg University and at Knouse Foods for a number of years. She enjoyed going to the Chambersburg Senior Center, playing bingo, gambling at Charlestown, going to yard sales, and nibbling on some chocolate ice cream.
She is survived by five daughters, Carol Foreman; Marlene Putt (husband Billy); Arlene Shauf; Darlene Simmers; and Charlene Smith all of Chambersburg, PA, twelve grandchildren, Stacey Foreman; Michael Martin; Randy Foreman; Brian Shauf; Bradley Shauf; Eric Shauf; Scotty Tarner; Jeffrey Martin; Shawn Smith; Amy Simmers; Travis Brumfield; and Pamela Butler, twenty-three great – grandchildren; seven great - great grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise Short and Doris Rife, both of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arvie Paul Martin on June 4, 1989 and two brothers, James and Robert Reath.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Mr. Michael Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 13, 2015, form 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
