Helen E. Myers, 99, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 14, 2013 at Menno Haven. Born September 30, 1913 in Metal Township near Fannettsburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Frank R. and Martha E. Traxler Keller. She was a 1932 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and was employed for forty-two years at the former J. Schoeneman Company, retiring in 1976. Mrs. Myers was a member of Salem United Brethren Church in Chambersburg where she was a member and former Secretary of the Men and Women’s Bible Class and helped in the church nursery for many years. She had been a member of the former Piney Mountain Auxiliary, the Menno Haven Auxiliary, the Women’s Missionary Fellowship, and AARP Chapter 2287. Her hobbies included crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening, and word puzzles. Her husband, Guy S. Myers, whom she married April 6, 1935, preceded her in death on January 10, 2003.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Byers and husband Robert of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Chad Glass, Nicole Jackson and husband Mike, all of Chambersburg, Rob Byers and wife Melissa of St. Petersburg, FL, and Julie Blagg and husband James of Chambersburg; and nine great-grandchildren, Cody, McKenna, Maya, Talon, Brady, Kealey, Noah, Tanner, and Marlee. She is also survived by three sisters, Edith Osterman, Edna Staley, and Dorothy Pheil, all of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Keller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Salem United Brethren Church with Rev. Art Page and Rev. Ronald Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
