Helen L. Shimer, 73, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA. Born October 28, 1943 in Schellsburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Warren Fisher and Mary N. Fisher Mowrey. A Certified Nursing Assistant, Helen began her career in healthcare at the former Bedford County Home, later retiring from Pennknoll Village in Everett, PA. Her husband, John E. Shimer, preceded her in death in 2000.
She is survived by her son, Elmer R. Shimer and wife Kathryn E. Shimer of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Christie Ann Boyer, Sherry L. Bojorquez and husband Brian Bojorquez, Samuel B. Waite and wife Lynne E. Waite, Michael A. Waite, and Darrin M. Shimer; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John J. “Butch” Shimer; a daughter, Robin L. Shimer Rupp; and a brother, Ronald Fisher.
Private interment will be in Schellsburg Cemetery, Schellsburg, PA
