Helen L. Besecker Showalter, age 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Magnolia’s Assisted Living. Born June 19, 1923, in Fayetteville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Cora Coble Besecker.
Mrs. Showalter was a 1941 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She worked as a draftsman at the former Chambersburg Engineering and Nassau Hemsley. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Welch (husband Homer) of Chambersburg, PA and Lois Orndorf (husband Timothy) of Chambersburg, PA and three grandsons, Daniel, Robert, and Gregory Orndorf. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard L. “Pete” Showalter, who passed away in 1987, three siblings, Frances Sites, Horace Besecker, and Samuel Besecker; and a great-aunt, E. Arabella Coble.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Coble Family Cemetery, St. Thomas, PA, where Rev. Suzanne Elliott will officiate. A celebration of life service will be held later in June. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Calvary United Methodist Church, 150 Norlo Dr., Fayetteville, PA 17222.
