Helen Shreiner

Helen K. Shreiner, age 90, of Chambersburg, PA, died on Friday, February 25, 2011 in the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 20, 1921 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late G. Stewart Klenzing and Mary Gabler Klenzing. She was the widow of Charles "Bucky" Shreiner, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1999.

Helen graduated from the former Chambersburg High School and worked in retail for a number of years, retiring from Sears and Roebuck. She also worked briefly for the Franklin County Association for Retarded Citizens and the former Stanley Company. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliaries of both the BPOE Lodge 600 and Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, all in Chambersburg.

She is survived by two children, Judith Seilhamer and husband John of Gettysburg and Mary Jo Frey of Fayetteville; two sisters, Mildred Colliflower and Mary Jane East, both of Chambersburg; 2 grandchildren, Michael Seilhamer and wife Stacy of Baltimore and Heather Kreider and husband Jason of Cleona, PA; and 4 great grandchildren: Lucas, Grace, and William Kreider, and Kelsey Seilhamer. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 4 sisters, and her son-in-law, Jerry Frey.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 W. Commerce St. Chambersburg on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Dr. Neal Hively officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 7-9 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Association for Retarded Citizens, 4351 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
