Henry Wilk

Henry J. Wilk, Sr., 84, of Chambersburg, PA, died Sunday evening, February 10, 2013 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 17, 1928 in Lamberton, PA, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Zuchowitz Wilk. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, Henry worked as a coal miner and road construction worker in his younger years. He then worked for the Department of Defense at the former Olmsted Air Force Base in Middletown, PA and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in April of 1988. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg. Henry always planted a large vegetable garden the he would tend from March until November. He also enjoyed fishing, especially deep sea fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ida Citro Wilk, whom he married February 12, 1953; three children, Anne Marie Benedick and husband Gary of Fayetteville, Henry J. Wilk, Jr. and wife Valerie of Chambersburg, and Christopher J. Wilk and wife Michelle of Fredericksburg, VA; five grandchildren, a great-grandson; and a brother, John Wilk of Greensburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Paul Theisz officiating. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chambersburg Hospital, 112 North Seventh Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
