Herbert Hartman

Herbert Bright Hartman, 95 of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Shamokin Dam, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, February 9, 2018, in Elizabethtown, PA. He was born July 19, 1922 the son of the late Herbert Hartman and Ruth ( Bright ) Hartman.
If you had met Herb, within the first few seconds, you'd realize he was someone special, someone cut from a different cloth. After a few more seconds, you'd know that he loved the Lord. Within a few minutes, you would hear him say that he was the richest man in the world. He would tell you that it was because the Lord blessed him with a huge family: 6 kids, 18 grandkids, and 18 great grandkids. If you kept talking awhile, he'd tell you that he was a miracle of God because of surviving many life altering accidents. If you were lucky, he might have told you about his time in the Pacific during WWII as a field medic. He was the recipient of 5 bronze stars. Herb graduated from Wilson High School in Reading PA.. Herb graduated from Franklin and Marshall with a B.S. in History and Education, he also earned a Master’s in Business from Temple University. Herb began his career as a History teacher at Boyertown School District and also was the boy’s basketball coach, where they earned a trip to the state playoffs. Following his teaching career, Herb was a District Manager for Nationwide Insurance for 30 years. Herb and his wife, Naomi served as missionaries in Russia in 1993 ministering to children in schools, orphanages, and hospitals; using puppet shows to spread God's good news. Herb also had a "card ministry", where he would minister to people with words of encouragement for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and sickness. Herb enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting, fishing, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Miram Kegerize Hartman and her children, David and Nancy Kegerize, Ann Gecelosky, and Joan and Alex Perizioso. He was preceded in death by his first beautiful wife, Naomi Hartman with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage. Also surviving are his children, David and Dianne Hartman and family, Ruth Ann and Benton Kline and family, Mary Ellen Dadd and family, Daniel and Phyllis Hartman and family, Elizabeth and Darrel Neff and family, Deborah and Jeffrey Smith and family. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Hannah Neff.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Mr. Joshua Kline wiIl officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 16, 2018, from 6 – 8 PM, and on Saturday one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery.
