Hilda Sheeder

Hilda A. Sheeder, 89, of Fayetteville, PA passed away peacefully to her eternal home on the morning of March 10, 2022. The daughter of the late William K. and Ester Stake, she was born and raised in Saxton, PA. She graduated from Saxton Liberty High School and attended Jefferson College of Nursing in Philadelphia.

She married her high school sweetheart Bill and they moved to Fayetteville to raise their family. She worked for Dr. John Sowers and taught piano lessons for many years. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fayetteville for 65 years where she was active in the music ministry. She was the chime choir director, substitute adult and children’s choir director and played the organ and piano when needed. Hilda truly loved her church family.

Hilda enjoyed going to the beach, swimming at Caledonia Pool, playing cards with her friends and especially loved family picnics and game nights. She was an avid WVU football and basketball fan, she rarely missed watching a game.

Hilda is survived by a daughter, Jane McClure husband Bob; a son, William Sheeder II; grandchildren, Nicole Lowe husband Jeff and Scott McClure wife Carrie and great-granddaughters, Alexandra Lowe and Anna McClure. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, a daughter Linda and a brother Harold Stake.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 19, 2022 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 44 E. Main Street, Fayetteville, PA 17222 with Pastor Christopher Frye officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
