Homer D. Johnson, 79, of Spring Run, PA, passed away Wednesday morning, April 18, 2018 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg. Born January 7, 1939 in Spring Run, he was a son of the late Myrl and Thelma Snyder Johnson. Mr. Johnson had been employed at Domestic Pump Company, Inc. in Shippensburg and then from 1966-1970 he and his wife owned and operated H.D. Johnson Gulf Oil Products. He retired in 1999 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he worked as an equipment operator. He was known and trusted by the many families of Path Valley who relied on him for 28 years to clear the snow from the Timmons mountain. He attended Blue Mountain Assembly of God. Mr. Johnson enjoyed farming, salmon fishing in Michigan, and loved Country and Southern Gospel music. At one time he had been active with the Amberson Community Center.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Regi Johnson, whom he married June 6, 1959; his daughter, Marcia Johnson Reinhart (John) of Chambersburg; two sons, H. Daniel Johnson (Joyce) of Chambersburg and Douglas E. Johnson (Christine) of Spring Run; five grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Cameron, Amber, and Erica; and two great-grandchildren, Sierra and Alicha. He is also survived by seven siblings, Bill Johnson (Rose), Kay Criswell (late Dick), Wayne Johnson, (Bonnie), Faye George (late Ronald), Alma Burdge (Edsel), Diane Masters (Tom), and Avis Black (Wade); and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Luther, Irvin, and David Johnson, Mary Jane Long, and Lucy Swanger.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Amberson United Methodist Church, 18889 Amberson Road, Amberson, PA. Pastor Darwin Goshorn and Pastor Mark Clark will officiate.
