Ida B. Ritchey, age 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Penn Hall Nursing Home. Born December 29, 1921 in Claysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Grace Benton Baker.
Mrs. Ritchey worked in retail for a number of years at Sears and Montgomery Ward. She enjoyed music, reading, and crossword puzzles. Mrs. Ritchey was a member of Pond Bank Independent Church and in her later years, she attended The Open Door Church; where she enjoyed the Jolly Sixties Senior group at church.
Surviving are three children, Mary Ellen Leckrone (husband Wayne) of York, PA, John W. Ritchey (wife Paula) of Conway, SC, and Ruth Ann Rittgers (husband Keith) of Dallas Center, IA; six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. John Ritchey in December 1988, as well as one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held to honor her life on Wednesday, December 3, 2013 at 12 noon at the Pond Bank Independent Church, 6704 White Rock Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17201; where Pastor Gerald Carbaugh will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Franklin County, 45 South Broad St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
