Ida P. Wilk, 88, of Chambersburg, PA, died Monday morning, January 4, 2016 at Providence Place. Born March 17, 1927 in Brownsville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Amelia Landi Citro. Ida was a 1945 graduate of the Brownsville (PA) High School. She was first employed by G. C. Murphey Department Store in Brownsville, PA then Nichols and later JC Penney’s in Chambersburg until her retirement in 1984. Ida was an excellent cook and seamstress. Her husband, Henry J. Wilk, Sr., whom she married February 12, 1953, preceded her in death on February 10, 2013.
She is survived by three children, Anne Marie Benedick and husband Gary of Fayetteville, Henry J. Wilk, Jr. and wife Valerie of Chambersburg, and Christopher J. Wilk and wife Michelle of Ocean City, MD; five grandchildren, Darren Benedick and wife Mindy of Chambersburg, Ashley Benedick of Fayetteville, and Amanda, Katie, and Abigail Wilk, all of Ocean City, MD; and three great-grandchildren, Deegan Benedick and Aiden and Autumn Wilk. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Citro; and two sisters, Jennie Citro and Carmella Loewy.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 16, 2016 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201 with The Very Rev. Luis Rodriguez, VF officiating. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 AM Saturday January 16, 2016 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Place Co-worker Foundation, 1528 Sand Hill Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
