Ida Woods

Ida V. Miller Woods, age 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Menno Haven Nursing Home. Born December 9, 1926 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Mildred C. Snyder Miller.
A Bank Teller, Mrs. Woods worked for the former Old National Bank and Valley Bank for 30 years, retiring in 1988. She was also employed by Williams Dress Shop for 8 years. She attended the former Chambersburg High School, where she has served on her High School Class committee since, 1945. Mrs. Woods was a member of the Chambersburg Community Chorus and attended Fetterhoff United Brethren Chapel in Duffield, PA. In 1963, her family became members of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully as a member of the Choir and was the membership Chairman for 18 years. She and her husband also enjoyed participating in Lay Witness Missions with the church. She volunteered at Menno Haven in the Craft Department and Meals on Wheels. In addition, Mrs. Woods was a former member of the Menno Larks; a member of the Franklin County AARP, Chapter #2287 and NARFE Chapter #1063. After retirement, Ida and Woodie enjoyed traveling with the “GO Club” of F & M Bank in Chambersburg.
Surviving is her son Warren Victor. Woods, Jr. (wife Teresa “Terri”) of Chesterfield, VA; two granddaughters, Meggan R. St. John (husband Chadwick N.) of Powhatan, VA and Ryan L Dey (husband Dr. Timothy W.) of Glen Allen, VA; and four great – grandchildren, Corey M. St. John, Cameron E. St. John, and Abby G. Dey and Ethan W. Dey; five siblings, Mrs. Betty Stake of Fayetteville, PA, Jacob Miller of Fayetteville, PA, Florence Moyer of Selinsgrove, PA, Mary Norcross of Chambersburg, PA, and Charles R. Miller of Chambersburg, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Warren V. “Woodie” Woods, Sr. in 1998 and three siblings, Robert C. Miller, Jr., Frank L Miller, and G. Louise Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Dr. Marlin Snider and Chaplain Bob Keener will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery.
