Ilene M. “Red” McElwain age 60, of Fayetteville, PA passed away in the Chambersburg Hospital on Sunday, March 10, 2013 after a seven year long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Washington, DC on August 8, 1952, she was the daughter of the late George W.S. and Ilene Marie Roles Miller.
Red worked for Knouse Foods for 44 years, where she started November 10, 1969 as a light laborer and worked her way up serving in many capacities and ultimately obtaining her current and much loved position of Warehouse Manager at the Biglerville Plant; where she had many beloved friends, co-workers, and employees. She was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Amvets, post 224, and the Moose Lodge all in Chambersburg; where she enjoyed attending various club functions and activities.
Surviving is her beloved and devoted fiancé of over 20 years, Jason Hoffman, a daughter, Michelle I. Traxler of Crossville, TN, three grandchildren, Rachelle Poper, Robert “JR” Poper, Jr., and Justin Traxler, and six siblings, George W.S. Miller, Jr. (wife Ann) of Shippensburg, PA, John R. Miller (wife Nancy) of Waynesboro, PA, Edith L. McNew (husband Daryl) of Fayetteville, PA, Robert B. Miller of Waynesboro, PA, Christine A. Wenger (husband Lee) of Chambersburg, PA, and Laurie L. Millard (husband Tim) of Roanoke, VA. In addition, she is survived by her adored Maltese dogs, Captain, Tenille, and Scooter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Ken Williamson will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
