Ines Runk Mentzer

Ines G. (Hoover) Runk Mentzer, 89, of Chambersburg, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital surrounded by her family. Born May 26, 1926 in Todd Township, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel D. and Olive J. Drake Hoover.

Ines was a 1942 graduate of Robertsdale High School. She was employed as a secretary at Letterkenny Army Depot for over 30 years until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of Chambersburg Bible Church and NARFE, and she enjoyed bowling, gardening and traveling.

She is survived by six children, Laura D. Crum (husband George) of Orrtanna, Norman R. Runk (wife Nancy) of Mechanicsburg, Karen J. Meister (husband Tom) of York, Elaine L. Henry (husband Ross) of Orrtanna, Earl L. Mentzer II (wife Bridgid) of Newville, and James C. Mentzer of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Evelyn Shearer of Canton, OH, and Laura Edgar of York, PA. She is also survived by a dear friend of 20 years, Richard Rock of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, Ines was preceded in death by her first husband Norman W. Runk in 1952; her second husband, Earl L. Mentzer in 1984; and three brothers, Irvin, Harry and Allen Hoover.

A funeral service to honor Ines’ life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Chambersburg Bible Church, 810 Orchard Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Gary Yoder will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Cassville Cemetery at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chambersburg Bible Church at the above address.
