Irene Statler

Irene M. Statler, 79 of Chambersburg, PA, died at 7:22 PM Monday, April 4, 2011 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 29, 1931 in Greene Township, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Miller Frey. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. A homemaker most of her life, Irene was an active member of Heidelberg Church in Marion where she was a teacher and Superintendent of the Primary Department for many years. She was a former member of the Chambersburg Mall Walkers. Her beloved husband, Donald M. Statler preceded her in death on July 1, 2004.

Irene is survived by three children, Wayne E. Statler and wife Deanna of Chambersburg, Barbara Kelly and husband Richard of Chambersburg, and Donald W. Statler and wife Samantha of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor (wife of Rev. Guy) Baer of Fayetteville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and John Frey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 8, 2011 at Heidelberg Church in Marion, PA. Rev. Adam Leeper will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 AM Friday at the church. Interment will follow at Brown’s Mill Cemetery.
