Irma L. Kaslow, 89, of Chambersburg, died on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 4, 1934 in Knoxville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Cranston Clayton and Cecyle Womack Clayton. Her beloved husband, Rev. George W. Kaslow, Jr., preceded her in death on October 11, 2005.
Irma was a 1951 graduate of Hicksville (NY) High School. She attended Brothers College of Drew University in New Jersey and later completed her Licensed Practical Nurse certification at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ in 1965. She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at various healthcare facilities in New Jersey. A lifelong United Methodist, Irma served faithfully in many capacities as a church member in the New Jersey churches served by her husband and then in First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg. As an accomplished singer and soloist, Irma sang throughout her lifetime in church choirs, The New Jersey Ministers’ Wives Choral, and community choruses.
Upon moving to Chambers Pointe Mennohaven, Irma continued helping others and served as a volunteer in many capacities, including as a member of the Renaissance Resident Council and as a Caring Friend/Abider.
She is survived by four children, Lois Hartley (husband Hampton) of Fayetteville, GA, Kenneth Kaslow (wife Kim) of Conway, NH, Judith Kaslow of Long Beach, NY, and Martin Kaslow (wife Karen) of Biglerville; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Milnes (husband Rodney), and Mary Kohn; and many loved nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents and husband, Irma is preceded in death by her son Stuart, brother James Clayton; sister-in-law, Doris Clayton; and brother-in-law, Carl Kohn.
A graveside service will be held in New Jersey on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mennohaven at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
