Isabelle Allen

Isabelle L. Allen, 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 2016 at her home. Born March 7, 1921 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Alvey S. and Edith Barnhart Hicks. Mrs. Allen was a 1939 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and attended the former Chambersburg Business School. She was employed for many years at the J. Schoeneman Company in Chambersburg, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Allen was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and its Semper Fidelis Sunday school class. She served as a Sunday school teacher in the primary department for many years. She was an avid reader, loved hummingbirds, and enjoyed walking. Her husband, Frank Allen, Jr., whom she married January 1, 1943, preceded her in death on September 23, 2008.

She is survived by her son, Paul “Ed” Allen of Chambersburg; three grandsons, Frank E. Allen, Mark J. Allen, and Matthew G. Allen; and five great-grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Hayden, Shawn, and Ryan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul E. Hicks, and two sisters, Catherine Martin and Mary Kanarr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Scott Bowerman will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
