Isabelle R. (Miner) Doughten, 91, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Waynesboro Hospital. Born December 18, 1929 in Maiden Creek near Reading, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Allen J. and Olevia M. (Claudy) Miner.
She was employed at the Stanley Company in Chambersburg as a seamstress for 35 years. Isabelle was an active member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Fayetteville where she sang in the choir for 25 years. She was a lifetime member of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW. She was an active member of the Republican Party and volunteered at voter polling on elections days. Isabelle enjoyed baking, cooking, and most of all spending time with her family who she cherished dearly. She was a staple in attendance at many Trojan sporting events, cheering on her grandchildren over the years.
Isabelle is survived by her daughter Debra MacWilliams and her husband Kirk of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Emily Lillystone and her husband Ian of Alpharetta, GA and Thomas “T.J.” MacWilliams and his wife Christi of Round Rock, TX; three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Hudson, and Kingsley Lillystone; a sister, Violet Sullivan of Fayetteville, PA; a sister-in-law, Ann Flora of Arizona; and a number of nieces, nephews, and “adopted” grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Doughten who passed away January 13, 1999 and a sister, Mary Etter.
Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Mr. Jay Peterson and Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Wednesday afternoon in the funeral home.
