J. Louise Ashburn, 85, of Waynesboro and formerly of Chambersburg, passed away Tuesday morning, September 6, 2016 at her home. Born October 28, 1930 in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Raymond L. Kitzmiller, Sr. and Isabelle Patterson Kitzmiller. Mrs. Ashburn was a 1948 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and retired from the Franklin Learning Center where she had been employed as a secretary. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. She was active for many years with Chambersburg Community Theater and enjoyed participating in eighteen plays with the organization. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and she enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Her husband, Byron G. Ashburn, whom she married September 3, 1950, preceded her in death on May 1, 2013.
She is survived by two sons, Bradley Ray Ashburn and wife Ann of Waynesboro and Curtis Byron Ashburn and wife Judy of Washington, DC; and five grandchildren, Jonathan Ashburn and wife Jenna, Matthew Ashburn, Rebekah Coval and husband Andy, Mitchell Ashburn, and Kristina Ashburn. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Salmon and husband Paul of Chambersburg; her brother, Robert Kitzmiller and wife Frances of Chambersburg; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Kitzmiller of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregg Ashburn; her sister and brother-in-law Irene and Paul Keller; and her brother, Raymond L. Kitzmiller, Jr.
A service to celebrate Louise’s life will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, September 10, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate. Private interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
