Julia Marie Sites Hawk, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday evening, June 26, 2017. Born August 15, 1935 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Wilber L. Sites, Sr. and Della Stewart Sites. Marie retired from the Chambersburg Hospital where she had worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church and will be remembered by many in the community for her delicious pies. In addition to baking, she enjoyed word puzzles and spending time with her family. Her husband, Rev. Robert E. Hawk, whom she married November 14, 1953, preceded her in death on August 8, 1984.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Matthew and Shane Hardsock, Michelle Witmer (Mark), Dennis Shifler (Melissa), and Scott Gannon; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Ellison; and two sisters, Florence Burkholder and Delores Hargleroad. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two daughters, Renee Stone and Karen Hardsock; a sister, Velva Cormany; and a brother, Bishop Wilber L. Sites, Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 3, 2017 at Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery (located next to Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church, 4025 Chapel Road, Chambersburg, PA). Her nephew, Rev. Dennis A. Sites, will officiate.
