J. Robert “Bob” Snowberger, 84, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015 at his home. Born May 21, 1931 in Zullinger, PA, he was a son of the late Ira F. Snowberger and Hazel W. Snowberger. His beloved wife of 63 years, Gloria Joycene Snowberger, whom he married on June 3, 1951, preceded him in death on March 18, 2015.
Bob was a 1950 graduate of Waynesboro High School. A U.S. Airforce veteran, he served honorably during the Korean Conflict while he was stationed in Ruislip, England. After his military service, Bob worked at Letterkenny Army Depot where he travelled throughout the country to wire missiles. In 1961, Bob opened Lincoln Lectronics in Chambersburg where he was the owner/operator for the next 54 years. He attended St. Luke Lutheran Church and was a member of BPO Elks 600 in Chambersburg. Throughout his life, Bob was very dedicated to youth baseball organizations. He served as a coach with the J.V. baseball team at CASHS, the Cal-Quin League, Guilford Little League and Guilford Pony League. His teams played in three Pony League World Series in Washington, PA and were featured in a Toyota advertisement in People Magazine. Bob loved playing with his grandkids as well as the poodles he raised throughout the years.
He is survived by three children, Debra S. Lehman of Chambersburg, PA, Robert F. Snowberger (wife Susan A.) of Chambersburg, PA, and Scott E. Snowberger (wife Lorraine J.) of Germantown, MD; four grandchildren, Sebastian Snowberger, Lauren Lehman, Kyle Snowberger, and Sabrina Snowberger; and a brother, Campbell Snowberger of Waynesboro. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob is preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Emmert Snowberger; and two sisters, Anna Colin, Eva Helen Singer.
A memorial service in his honor will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Bobby Culler will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 PM prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd. West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
