Jack Lear

Jack W. Lear, 73, of Chambersburg, PA went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 20, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital where he was under hospice care. Born June 3, 1948 in Washington County, MD he was the son of the late William Freemont and Goldie Elizabeth (Smith) Lear.

He was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, Hagerstown, MD. Jack was employed as an electric motor repairman for S&S Electric Motors, Chambersburg. He retired in 2011 after 45 years of service. Jack was a member of Grand Point Church, Chambersburg where he enjoyed serving as a greeter on Sunday mornings. He was an avid bowler scoring seven 300 games in his lifetime along with many other high scores. Jack was a member of the Franklin County Bowling Hall of Fame and a competitor with the United States Bowling Conference for over 50 years. He also taught youth league bowling at Sunshine Lanes, Waynesboro, PA for 20 years. Jack also enjoyed going fishing with his son, daughter and grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karla (Bowman) Lear who he married May 11, 1973; a daughter, Amanda Short and her husband Chris of Fayetteville, PA; a grandson, Klayton Cooley and his significant other, Taylor Steen of Chambersburg; a great-granddaughter Skyia Hinton; a sister, Linda Oberholzer of Waynesboro, PA and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Jason Andrew Lear.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Lawrence Metzler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday afternoon in the church.
Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
