Jacob E. Hornbaker, 84, of Chambersburg, PA, and formerly of Willow Hill, died Saturday morning, March 29, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 4, 1929 in Blairs Valley, PA, he was a son of the late Melvin and Mary Pine Hornbaker. A US Army Veteran of WWII, Mr. Hornbaker retired from the former Lowengart Tannery in Mercersburg, where he had been employed as a Night Watchman.
He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Mills Hornbaker; his daughter, Peggy S. Marguez and husband David; three grandchildren, Desirae Stull, Faith Marquez, and Lori Dent; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruth Daley, Verna Shipley, and Edith Peck. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jacob E. Hornbaker, Jr.; two brothers, Ray and Melvin Hornbaker; and a sister, Dorothy Sensey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA with Rev. Marlin “Butch” Neil officiating. Interment with military honors by member of McCartney Post 232 American Legion Honor Guard will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
