Jacob Barry “Jake” Ramer, age 62, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at his home with his family by his side. Born January 18, 1955, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy Bricker Ramer.
Jake was a 1972 graduate of James Buchanan High School. He worked at Gabler Trucking, Inc. for 30 years, working in the accounting department. A gifted vocalist, Jake sang Bass for the Master’s Four Quartet for 44 years. Aside from music, Jake’s most cherished pastime was spending time with his family and coaching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 41 years, Sharon L. “Sherry” Ramer, whom he married on August 9, 1975; two children, Doug Ramer of Chambersburg, PA and Erin L. Bennani (husband Abdul) of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Jalil and Yaseer Bennani and Olivia and Kara Ramer; three siblings, Dorothy Jones (husband Ronald), Richard Ramer, and Debra Long (husband Mark). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Ramer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, at 1 PM at the Chambersburg First Church of God, 2230 Grand Point Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Lawrence Metzler will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2017, from 6 – 8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in Brown’s Mill Cemetery, Kauffman Station, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the above name church and address.
