Jacob McNew

Jacob B. McNew, 96, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away Monday morning, January 30, 2012 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he resided for the past three months. Born January 8, 1916 in Fayetteville, he was a son of the late Martin Luther and Bessie K. Baughman McNew. Mr. McNew was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring after more than twenty years of service. He attended New Guilford Brethren In Christ Church. He enjoyed spending time metal detecting. His wife, Virginia, preceded him in death on July 17, 1992.

He is survived by three children, Eleanor Myers of Greencastle, Saundra Myers and husband James of Fayetteville, and Gary McNew and wife Geraldine of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by eight sisters, two brothers, and a son, Richard McNew on July 4, 1978. He was the last of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 2, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Lawton Jacobs will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
