Jacob Schaff

Jacob G. Schaff IV, 74, of Fayetteville, died on Friday, August 10, 2012 at his home, with his family at his side. Born on January 3, 1938 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Jacob G. Schaff III and Ruby Schetromph Schaff.

Jacob was a 1955 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, where he served as class president. He graduated from Shippensburg University in 1960 with a B.S. in Education. After serving his country with the U.S. Army, Jacob went to work for the newly founded Brechbill and Helman Construction Company, from which he retired several years ago.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 47 years, Julia O’Brien Schaff, whom he married on October 9, 1965; two children, Jennifer Diamond of Fayetteville and Jacob G. Schaff V of Martinsburg, WV; two grandchildren, Tyler Diamond and Samantha Appleby; brothers, George (wife, Dee) Schaff of Swansboro, NC and Phillip (wife, Joyce) Schaff of Chambersburg; and one sister Peg (husband, Charles) Johnson, also of Chambersburg.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 15, in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Chaplain John Winckler will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice Inc., 2700 Luther Drive Chambersburg, PA 17201.
