James Bidlack

James Cecil Bidlack, age 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Thursday, December 22, 2016. Born July 14, 1929, in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Cecil S. and Marie M. Scheiderer Bidlack.

A U. S. Army veteran, Jim served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Jim went on to work in media and marketing, where he retired in 1988 from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. A gifted person, Jim excelled as an artist, an athlete, a billiards player, and a marksman. Jim loved to play golf, attaining the level of a scratch player. Jim was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan. After retirement, Jim had volunteered every Saturday for more than 20 years at the Wolf Creek Environmental Center, Medina Co., OH Parks District. His love for animals had continued even in his days at the Shook home, where he is survived by his orange tabby, Tigger. After his wife’s death, Jim moved to the Shook home to be near his daughter, Carol, who looked after him daily with exceptional kindness, love, and generosity of spirit.

Jim is survived by two daughters, Terry Lynn Bidlack Silva of Charlotte, VT and Carol Anne Bidlack Rinehart (husband John, Jr.) of Orrtanna, PA; a grandson, Jared William Silva of Winooski, VT; and his feline companion, Tigger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carolyn Joan Osborne Bidlack, in 2014 and a brother Jerry Thomas Bidlack.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 4:30 PM at The Shook Home, 55 S. 2nd St, Chambersburg, PA 17201; where Pastor James Fox will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wolf Creek Environmental Center, 6100 Ridge Rd., Sharon Center, OH 44281 or The Shook Home, 55 S. 2nd Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Shook Home, who cared for Dad with reciprocal grace and wisdom.
