James Brown

James “Jim” Brown, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 85 on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Jim was born on March 2, 1933 in Trafford, PA to the late Catherine and James M. Brown. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1955 and served two years in the US Army. On April 7, 1956 he married Donna Willow. Together in Pittsburgh they raised three children, David, Laura and Karen.

Jim worked for Commercial Credit Corporation for 32 years and for Whalen Motors/Jennings Auto Sales in Chambersburg for 8 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, serving on several committees and chairing the Administrative Council. Jim loved to golf and more than that he loved to laugh. He was a lifetime fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his three children; four grandchildren, Tyler, Carly, Wyatt and Elisse; and his brother Al. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Barefoot.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 31, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 225 South 2nd Street, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Catherine Boileau will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund at the above address.
