James W. Bumbaugh, 88, of Fayetteville, PA passed away, Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA. Born February 5, 1934 in Pond Bank, PA he was the son of the late David E. and Thelma Bumbaugh.
He was a graduate of the Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1952. He served as class treasurer. In his early life he was employed at Good Lumber Company, Quincy, PA. He then worked at Terminix Inc., for 40 years, starting as a technician, through salesman, and attaining position of regional district manager before retiring in 2000.
James loved the mountains, hunting with his sons, and traveling to golf outings through work and with his lifelong friends. He also enjoyed his men’s breakfast and morning coffee groups.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Colleen (Miller) Bumbaugh who he married June of 1952; six children, Cheryl L. Martin of Charlottesville, VA, Carin L. Walter (David) of Chambersburg, Carole M. Yapunchich (James) Spokane, WA, Craig W. Bumbaugh (Deborah) of Sunbury, PA, Claire D. Johnson of Billings, MT, and Darryl J. Bumbaugh (Lisa) of Roxbury, PA; two daughters-in-laws Patricia K. Bumbaugh of Fayetteville and Selena M. Bumbaugh of York, PA; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two sons, Chris M. Bumbaugh and Eric M. Bumbaugh; son-in-law, Gary Johnson; grandson, Will Johnson; a sister, Dorothy Horst Rock; and a brother, Kenneth Bumbaugh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 11:00 AM, Friday, October 21, 2022 in the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Fr. Allan Wolfe officiating. Inurnment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
